As a little girl growing up in South Georgia, my playground wasn’t just the backyard—it was a job site where my grandfather worked. While he built homes, I kept busy creating tiny neighborhoods for my roly-polies. I’d gather broken bricks, scoop up mortar, and carefully piece together little houses. When I ran out of bricks, I’d use pine straw to craft walls, roads, and entire communities where my imagination could run wild.
